June uploads for CX!

It was supposed to be upload day at CreativeXpress last Friday, but they are currently changing servers, so I thought I'd go ahead and post my May projects here for anyone to peek at!

I really love both of these projects.

When I was assigned to incorporate my childrens help into a layout I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I decided to do a layout about my kids' love of sidewalk chalk and let them create the embellishments for the layout using the chalk!

I put Sarah to work and asked her to create a variety of flowers, and then I sealed them with a matte finishing spray. Now I have no idea if that spray that you buy in the paint section of a craft store is archival or not, but to be honest, I'm not really one that is too worked up about keeping everything acid free. After the sealant had dried I cut them out and voila! Personalized embellishments that preserve her artwork!

I was also asked to create an altered notebook as a diary for a Teen/Tween. As soon as I saw this paper I knew it would be perfect for a diary for my 13 year old. I covered a basic comp notebook, and then added the ribbon closure to keep things a little more private for her! Personalized things with her initials and there you have it!

All product for these projects with the exception of the chalk and the matt finish sealant can be found in the CreativeXpress store!

Got scrappy last night.

I went scrapbooking with my sisters last night to Archivers. It really is my favorite place to scrap. The $1.99 spot saved me far too many times with the perfect "have to haves" for my layouts. I guess Michelle and Jana also saved me with some buttons and a "G" as well! Thanks girls!

Here are two of the layouts that I completed yesterday. I actually finished 4 of them, but the other two are for a future week in the A-Z contest that I'm participating in at KT Crafts, so I'll hold on to them for now.

I also completed a few pages for my friend Jenn that is hosting some girls for the Miss Utah Pageant. I'll have the rest of them to you sometime this week Jenn!

Enjoy!

I'm getting old....

So yesterday I bought my first beer.....ever. No, no...I haven't decided to take up drinking or anything like that....I bought it for a lawn fertilizng/food concoction that my cousin uses and her lawn looks amazing, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I was secretly sort of excited to be asked for my ID as this is an experience that I've never had before. So there I am at the check out....ready and waiting and all I get is "would you like your drinks with you or in the bag". WHAT! You mean, I don't even look remotely close to age 28 (or whatever age it is that if you look younger than they ask for ID). Okay, so I KNOW I have grey roots showing right now, but give me some slack! I just had my hair permed again and I can't color it for another week or two. It's not my fault that my roots are more grey than not....and I do realize that I've got some lines around my eyes, but that's to be expected with having 5 kids, isn't it.

Oh wait...I DO have five kids. Yeah...I guess not many 21 year olds would be able to claim that one.

Maybe I DO look 36.

Maybe I AM getting old.

Maybe I will never have the experience of having to show my ID.

Dang...missed out on that one! :0)

I've been bitten by the running bug....

And I think I'm a little crazy! Providing my sweet in-laws will be able to watch our kids overnight, Tracey, my cousin Kim and I plan on running the Provo River Trail Half Marathon in the beginning of August.

I know I can do it, but sheesh....that's 13.1 miles. YES...THIRTEEN POINT ONE MILES. I'm fine until I really sit and think about it and then it kind of freaks me out, but I'm determined to do it. Even if I end up walking half of it I'm gonna cross that finish line!

I started my training program today, even though I don't have a full 12 weeks to get through the entire thing. I did run my entire 3 miles without stopping....even straight up the hill! Good thing about this half marathon is it's nearly all down hill! Added bonus!

Not to beat this into the ground....

But here is a layout that I did about Tracey's race. I figured I may as well share it here, since this is where I share this kinda stuff!

I'm Pretty much, die hard.....in love

Yeah, I know it's sappy, but guess what.....I'm 100% truly in love with my husband. I think he's charming, fun, ingenious, caring, selfless, giving and amazingly enough, after 15 years of marriage, I find him incredibly and totally sexy!

Thanks to an amazingly wonderful Mother In Law, Tracey and I were able to spend some time, kid-free in Park City last weekend, following his relay race.

I have so much fun just being with him....even if we aren't really doing anything at all!

We drove home over the top of the mountain in Park City, down to Midway, so that I could see the grusome 3 mile incline that Tracey had to run. We stopped at the top of the hill and snapped off this photo with the self timer. I really need to find the photo that we did with the timer on our Honeymoon and create a layout with the two photos.

I can honestly say that Tracey has gotten far better looking with time, and our relationship just keeps getting better and better! Can't wait to see where we'll be in another 15 years!

182 Miles....

I am so proud of my husband. He and 11 other men, formed up a team to take part in the Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay Race.

This race began in Logan, Utah, and traveled 182 miles, ending in Park City, Utah. Each person ran 3 legs of the race, totaling around 15 miles.

Tracey was dreading the race. There is no doubt about it, however, he knew he would be sad if he didn't go through with it. What an amazing experience to witness 6 of the 12 members of his team, cross the finish line together. Over 26 hours of running, driving, trying to sleep then starting again.

Tracey said it was the hardest thing physically that he has ever done in his life, as his last leg was 3.5 miles at an 8% uphill grade on a dirt road. But he did it! The feeling of accomplishment and now the drive to continue to pursue fitness has infected both of us, and we both plan on participating in this race again next year. My Uncle Don, one of the team members is also a true inspiration as he is now 67 years old and had 2 of the hardest legs in the race, and he did it!

Way to go everyone that was a Ragnar runner! Way to go Tracey! I love you!

4 THE LOVE! I'm having a 4 The Love of Shoes, "e-show"

I'm so excited! I get to be the guinea pig for the first ever 4 The Love of Shoes "e-show."

The other day I was introduced to the wonderful shoes offered through 4 The Love of Shoes. I booked my own home show, but sadly enough, the show doesn't happen until November 11th, because that is how far booked out they are.

Anyhow, I picked up this darling little pair of orange shoes and they are ever so, so, so comfy! I've had some great feedback from them from friends on-line and thought how fun it would be to host an "e-show".

I contacted Sam and asked her what the possibities were and she said that she'd be thrilled for me to be the guinea pig.

So here's how it goes.....go to 4 The Love of Shoes shoe gallery, check out their awesome selection of incredibly priced, high quality shoes. (If you click on the image of the shoe, it enlarges with detailed information). E-mail me the name and size of shoe that you would like to leekristym@hotmail.com. Sam will then double check inventory to make sure that they are in stock. (Even though the website is fairly accurate, she just wants to make sure they are there!) I will calculate your total, including tax & shipping, and then send you an invoice through paypal. I will then go and pick up all of the shoes, and get them sent out immediately! Simple as that!

So, if you're after new shoes for you or your kiddos, take a peek!

I'll be collecting orders until the 30th of June.

Have fun shopping!

Ginormous Gummy Fun

Okay, is this not the sickest thing you've ever seen? That's right....it's a gummy snake measuring "nearly 36" long". Now I'm not sure how nearly, "nearly" is, cause I didn't bust out the measuring tape, but sheesh....that's a lot of jiggle in one confection.

I say sick. Aaron thinks it's totally bitchin'. I mean, what little dude wouldn't? Seriously. That's like dying and going to heaven for a kid...to actually have their mother willingly purchase them something like that!

Maybe I need my head examined.

Anyhow, here it is. Scrapped. Not sure if I love it, but it's done.

Funny story...

So today Maddison and I are driving down the road and here is a conversation that took place.

Maddison: That kid has on a weird shirt (think 80's t-shirt with the arm holes ripped down to the waist)
Me: Yeah...that how they wore them in the 80's. The 80's are really popular right now.
Maddison: Well why is that in style again.
Me: Because styles re-cycle. It's just how things go.
Maddison: Well what were the styles before the 80's then. I mean, wasn't that like pioneer time?
Me: Sweetie...I'm not THAT old.
Maddison: Well then it must have been pioneer time right before Grandma and Grandpa were born then...cause they didn't have TV's or microwaves or cell phones.
Me: You're right. But they still aren't that old.
Maddison: huh....

Truth be told...I don't think she believes me! :0)

3.5 miles!

Wow...I kind of surprise myself sometimes. I decided to drive the course that I ran yesterday to find out how far it was. Guess what....3.5 miles!

I ran it again today. I guess I was having a sympathy run for my hubby that will be running 13 miles in the next 24 hours on the Wastach Back Relay race. Poor thing has his 6 mile stretch at 1:00 in the morning, and it's all uphill! I'm proud of him though! As badly as he does NOT want to do this, I asked him last night if he'd be dissapointed if he didn't and he said absolutely. I think it will be an amazing thing to say that you've done!

Anyhow, I did my run today....3.5 miles. I probably walked about 1/4 mile of that midway through. My music picks for the torture today were GNR and AC/DC. LONG LIVE BUTT ROCK!

Running...running...running.......

So I'm in this little exercise contest at KT Crafts. We have to exercise on 3 different days each week for a total of 90 min over the 3 days. We're in week 10 of exercise and up to this point, I've done at least 5 hours and 4 days each week.....but this week? I'm struggling!

I've been so dizzy over the past few days...well, since I did cartwheels through the sprinklers with my kids. (Stupid idea) But I decided that I was not going to let a case of the dizzies get me out of this contest....after all....I'm making decent progress and I don't want to stop now.

I just reached my goal of a size 10 by my 36th birthday, and hope to be a size 8 by the first day of fall. I just need to go and buy a new pair of jeans to hang on my bathroom door for motivation!

Anyhow, todays choice of music to get me through the torture was Stop All the World Now by Howie Day. If you're looking for something new from itunes, I'd truly suggest it!

Oh and a little piece of advice....don't run on garbage day. It stinks. Really. It does.

Beautiful Girl

Yeah, if you've been around to the scrappy sites that I visit, or Outta This Funk, you've likely seen this layout that I made for my sweet Sister In Law, Jana.

I have to be honest that this is one of my most favorite....EVER...creations. It came together so easily and oddly enough, quickly for me. I usually take about forever and 10 days to create anything, and was able to finish this layout in an afternoon. I'm not sure if it was the reason that I was creating it for her or what....but it was a joy, just as she is a joy in my life!

I owe so much to her and her example in life. Her strength and courage in different aspects of life have affected mine so richly in round about ways, and as a result my family has been eternally blessed.

I love you Jana girl! You are beautiful....even holding a goat! LOL!

Well, I figure I'd give it another go....

Blogging that is.

I'm sure this blog is going to be a work in progress as I really don't know how to make it look fancy, schmancy, but I'm sure I'll figure it out with time.

I guess as my time winds down with CX, I want to focus more on establishing my own scrappy home for projects and stories of life, so I may as well start now!

So there you have it.

Welcome to Life Scrapped!
